cast of characters...

well the cheshire cat could be a puppet or a person. as a puppet he could be in a tree and the person could be under him, controlling him. well the actor could be the head and the body could be the puppet for tail movement. he is the most expressive character so it might be best to make him human or hybrid. the actor could hide behind a prop tree or behind a court bench
ah. the mad ones. give me the mad ones kerouac once said. but would he trade in his crew for this lot who knows? the hatter would have a prostetic nose and jaw. the hare is a puppet with the actor controlling the mouth, ears and hand. the door mouse is another puppet and would be another actor. all could move the table to emphasize the mess.
zombies. white faced no names. just numbers. just followin' orders...
oh what a butterfly you would be my asphixiating friend. again, an actor on bottom in a mushroom room. the other legs or arms could also be another actor sitting on the bottom part of the caterpillar and he or she could wheel the mushroom on stage. not a rewarding job though.
the animals for the swimming scene. how to do the swimming scene? well you have a long piece a fabric with a wire structuring that looks like waves. and then you have it rise when the water rises. back light it to see the silloette of her swimming. that could look nice.
run rabbit run. this could be a puppet with the actor behind him and poles for the arms and the feet attached to poles for the feet of our fast feral friend. one arm could be motionless, leaving room for the actor to control the head with a carrott on a stick.
i don't know if they are going to make it into the play, but i love the griffen so much. and the turtle soup song rocks. even though they are friends, he is sooo going to eat him. well anywho. the griffen would be a man in a costume, with a series of pullies the actor could control the head. making it move left to right and with the other hand he could control the wings. it's a complicated costume. but would be rad at a party. the turtle, resting above its soup, would be a puppet.

what's with the relationship between the dutchess and sgt. pepper?
